Is Tiny House Living Right For You?

Tiny houses are popping up everywhere...literally! If we’re trying to get technical here, a tiny house is considered to be a home that’s 400 square feet or less. So is tiny house living right for you? We’ve compiled a list of some things to think about when considering whether or not a tiny home may be a good fit.

Storage
Tiny homes are truly tiny, meaning you need to have tiny things within the house and tiny room for storage. Think about your attachment to "things" and what you'll really be able to keep with you in the home.

Composting toilet
A lot of tiny homes utilize a composting toilet because they are placed in remote locations or even on wheels. If you're all for cleaning various portions of the tank and utilizing the fertilizer, go for it! If you're a tad grossed out, maybe reconsider or think of other options.

Outdoor space
You're going to be spending lots of time outside of your home- heck that's the point of tiny living, right? Think about your goals of tiny living and if one of them is spending more time outdoors and enjoying nature, this is your chance!

Family members and animals
Where will they sleep, eat, play, stay, etc? On days where you'll need to spend a decent amount of time indoors, think about how you'll feel being somewhat on top of each other. Also, if you have several indoor cats, a tiny home might make it feel like you're living in their world, not your own tiny space.

Entertaining
If you love to have lots of family members and friends over, a tiny house might not be ideal for you. With a limited floor plan, gatherings will need to be held outdoors and overnight guests will need to bring tents.

Here at CMK & Associates, we don't have any tiny home listings within the 400 square feet range, but some of these are pretty close and smaller in size! Check them out and contact the listing agent if you're interested!
